What to feed robins in a UK garden
Robins are insect-eaters at heart. Seed-only stations help other species, but if you want regular robin visits, add soft foods and invertebrates.
Best foods for robins
- Mealworms — dried or soaked; a robin favourite
- Robin / songbird mixes with suet crumbs and insects
- Suet pellets or soft crumbly fat-based foods
- Soaked raisins or soft fruit in tiny amounts (never salty leftovers)
How to offer food
Robins often feed on or near the ground. Use a low tray, ground feeder, or open robin feeder in a quiet spot with some cover nearby.

Avoid sudden feeder moves once they are visiting, keep the area clean, and provide water for drinking and bathing.
